Kay is a songwriter, producer and musician who express himself through the Hip-Hop genre. Born and bred in Ladysmith he draws his musical influences from local acts Ladysmith Black Mambazo and internationally acclaimed rap giant DMX. Kay fuses these influences with his storytelling skills to deliver a hot plate of vernacular rap. Kay has been recording since 2001 beginning with the crew Encore, and later teaming up with Dukza_Zn to create the rap duo Dukza No Kay. The duo enjoyed a successful single KHUPHUL’ IVOLUME in 2010 which went on to become a jingle for Ukhozi FM and landed them a recurring performance slot in the popular SABC music tour Nyus’iVolume. 2012 saw Kay heading out to establish himself as a solo artist with the aim to reach international acclaim by 2014.
